Sharing our faith is something very important to the Lord. All of us have somebody we can bring to the Lord, encourage, and disciple. In fact the willingness to do this is part of your Christian armour. Imagine a soldier without boots. What a pitiful sight! Now imagine a Christian without his boots and unable to perform his soldiering tasks and cannot make his way over rough terrain because his sensitive feet are hampering him. How often do Christians find themselves weak and unable to live the Christian life. Much of the reason may lay where you never expected it. You may not have an extremely essential part of your Christian armour on. Boots on your feet - "And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;"
Ephesians 6:15 KJV It appears to be as important as the belt of truth. Now imagine a soldier without a belt to keep his pants up, especially during battle. Imagine how absurd a soldier with his pants on his heels, warring against the enemy. It would be the emblem of patheticism. Is it any different? Should you not have boots on as a Christian? Imagine a soldier without a sword or arms, or a helmet, or a bullet-proof chest plate? So much emphasis is put on these important equipment for a soldier of Christ. but what about your boots? Where are your boots? Christ Jesus included the boots with the entire armour. Oh, soldier of Christ, maybe you have your helmet of salvation, chestplate of righteousness, shield of faith, sword of the Word, belt of Truth, but if you don't have boots on, you'll be weak. Like an emblem of patheticism, you will tippy-toe round about the rocks and briars. Sharp objects will cut you and cripple you. You'll be worthless in your duties and a danger to the rest of the soldiers in your squad. Get your boots on! God sent His Son to tell a lost people that He loved. People lost in their sin, about His redemption plan, salvation from hell, sinful rebellion, the poison of self-will. Need we say any more about man's condemned position and lost state? But as Christ started His ministry, he gathered his men and said, Come, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men, soldiers of the cross. Through Paul, Jesus said, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV Also, Paul said, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; Romans 1:16 KJV
Get your boots on, soldier! And don't be ashamed! But instead be bold. Get boots on your beautiful feet and walk your talk. Has the Lord not also said, "...as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
Romans 10:15 KJV
And then the Lord reminded us that "he that winneth souls is wise." Proverbs 11:30 KJV
Now never forget the rest of the armour of God becomes as nothing if you don't put on the boots that He provides, and then be willing to help others to salvation and rebirth as you were helped. Encourage them as you were encouraged, exhort them away from sin and towards obedience of the Shepherd's voice. For He said, my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. They do not hear strange shepherds. This is your basic duty.
Many Christians seem to be defeated but we believe that the greatest reason is that they don't have their boots on. Boots! - "And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;" Ephesians 6:15 KJ
Watch, Pray and find somebody to bring to the Cross. Help them to salvation. Help them all the way through. Encourage, exhort. Don't condemn them. But work along side with God to convict them of their sin through the exclusive working of the Holy Spirit while you are in the shadow. Jesus said, he did not come to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:17 KJV
In highly dangerous situations, soldiers sleep with their boots on, while they make turns to stand guard to watch for any sign of danger. Don't take your boots off soldier! The enemy as a roaring lion walked about seeking whom he may devour. There are many that need saved from a lost condition. Many crippled and weak Christians, many sleepy that need woken, many discouraged and depressed that need encouragement, many went on dangerous, treacherous paths that need exhorted or maybe even an open rebuke. Get your boots on soldier!
This is what we would like to do. we'd like to encourage you to get your boots on and never take them off. Make sure you have your belt on tight so you don't lose your pants in battle. Without your boots all your warring equipment will become worth almost nothing.
We are seeking to serve the flock of our Lord at His command according to Matthew 28:18-20.
